ABOUT
Windy City Pollen started as two beehives on a Wrigleyville rooftop. The bees brought us a little respite from a hurried city-life. It wasn’t long before we decided to pay it forward and bring the magic of bees to others in meaningful, engaging ways.
Our goal is to educate people on the linkage between bees and food, provide surplus honey and honeycomb to select restaurants and help businesses meet their environmental sustainability commitments. We take a hands-on approach to education, teaching people about how bees live, work and produce honey.
WHO IS WINDY CITY POLLEN
John and Ben initially met at a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class and connected over the joys of chasing physical and mental challenges as well as first-hand experiences. From this joy grew the idea of urban beekeeping on the quiet rooftops of downtown Chicago. Ben was raised in the suburbs of Chicago and was quickly draw to nature after spending so many summers in his mother’s garden. John moved from his home in Detroit to Chicago and attributes his love of nature to all the years spent outside training young athletes.
